If one studies one’s surroundings one finds that those who are happy are so because they have less thought of self. If they are unhappy it is because they think of themselves too much. A person is more bearable when he thinks less of himself. And a person is unbearable when he is always thinking of himself. There are many miseries in life, but the greatest misery is self-pity.

That awkward moment where Bella is the star of her story, defies every single man who tries to control her, single-handedly stands up to the Voltaire and the Quileute, but is regarded as anti-feminist because she wants a man.

Twilight isn’t saying that all a woman needs in life is a man. It’s saying that all Bella wants in life is Edward, and guess what? She gets him. She makes a choice, every man in her life tells her no, and she spends four books telling them to go fuck themselves.

Bella Swan is a feminist.

(couldn’t resist whoops)

This. Must. Be. A. Joke.

Is this someone attempting to troll feminists?

I agree SO HARD with the OP.

Twilight actually has a lot of good aspects.
1. Bella saves everyone in every single damn novel
2. There’s a lot about sexual harassment and sexual assault and the importance of consent (Edward sets his boundaries because he’s uncomfortable having a sexual relationship and she respects him because that shit’s important, Rosalie tells her story about how she was gang-raped by her fiancee and his friends and then she killed the fuckers because yes even your intimate partners can rape you, the time Jacob kisses Bella without her consent and she punches him in the goddamn face so hard she breaks her hand because no one’s allowed to touch you without your permission, etc etc etc.)
3. The entire point of the second novel was to show that your self worth shouldn’t be so harshly effected by someone else’s opinion of you (Edward leaves Bella and she gets really depressed about it but then starts healing when she realizes that she’s still an important and needed person in the world and then she saves his sorry ass from getting killed)
4. The series follows Bella from being the shy girl who was thrown into a world that she needed protection from to being a fucking badass woman who’s the only one capable of protecting her loved ones. Why? Oh yeah, because she’s the hero of her own story.
5. Bella makes her own choices on her own time, isn’t afraid or ashamed of her sexuality, and doesn’t let other people push her around. She’s intelligent and knows what she wants and goes after it until she gets it.

Yeah, the series is also really fucked up and I can’t say I’m a fan but people really need to realize something:
The characters in the novel? They’re not perfect. Edward’s an over-protective asshole in the beginning but by the end of the series he learns that he doesn’t always know what’s best and accepts the fact that he can’t control everyone all the time. Jacob’s overly aggressive and manipulative but finally learns to let Bella choose for herself because he realizes that she’s a human being who deserves the right to pursue what makes them happiest. And Bella? She learns to stand the fuck up for herself and for what she believes in. She puts herself through hell for her beliefs and stops being such a delicate little push-over and becomes a BAMF.

It’s really not that bad of a story if you think about it. JUST SAYING.
